Therapy for Couples + Relationships

“My wife and I have seen several therapists throughout our 13 year relationship, with Sydney being our most recent couples counselor. She has such a genuinely kind spirit and helped us to feel comfortable immediately. Throughout each  session, Sydney beautifully held space for my wife and I to process intense grief as well as learn how to communicate more clearly about what we need to feel connected to each other outside of our new motherhood roles. We are honored to recommend Sydney to anyone seeking counseling services as we were truly blessed by our experience with her.”

Couples therapy in Boulder, Colorado

I specialize in supporting couples navigate their relationship using an attachment-based and trauma-informed approach that is infused with compassion, curiosity, directness, and humor.

Whether you have recently started dating or have been parenting togethers for years, seeking out counseling at any stage of a relationship can be an enriching opportunity for learning, self exploration and growth.

Below are examples of some goals that I support couples with:

  • finding clarity on longterm alignment and needs

  • experiencing enriched intimacy

  • improving communication, especially during times of conflict

  • developing a deepened sense of trust and connection

  • increasing awareness around self in the relationship

  • the ability to recognize ruptures in the relationship and experience repair

  • building intentionality around how you navigate shared space and shared lives; collaboration

In my work with couples, I draw on my training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples, gestalt therapy, mindfulness and somatic (body-based) modalities that support my clients in understanding how their nervous systems work together.

Please note, that sometimes couples undergoing therapy find that what their relationship actually needs is to evolve; that through this process, they may find that their goal is to find a way to lovingly separate. In that case, I will work to support you both in a way that is kind, brave, and ultimately freeing.
